Marriage is a beautiful thing especially when both partners are on the same page and respect one another. Unfortunately it is no secret that marriages can turn really ugly and end up in divorce, if couples become disjointed in their relationship and lose that connection that once existed. As much as we like to believe that a marriage should be for better or for worse, in sickness and in health (ideally), the truth is, life happens. As we all know, sometimes things don’t always go as originally planned. In fact here are some statistics that we were able to quickly dig up:
According to www.barna.org, “Among adults who have been married, the study discovered that one-third (33%) have experienced at least one divorce. That means that among all Americans 18 years of age or older, whether they have been married or not, 25% have gone through a marital split.”
In the video clip below, Pastor Riva Tims, the former wife of the late Pastor Zachery Tims who died of a drug overdose has spoken candidly about the events that led up to the breakup of their 15-year marriage and the ultimate demise of her husband. Theirs is a cautionary tale of how even couples in the highest level of leadership in the church are not immune to marital issues that commonly occurs if that vital connection between a couple is lost. She discusses how it took the complete forgiveness of her husband for her to come to terms with what happened and eventually move to a place of peace in her life and fulfil her purpose. Pastor Riva Tims’ powerful ministry, Majestic Life Church and her book titled “When It All Falls Apart: Find Healing, Joy and Victory through the Pain”, has given her a platform to share her message of hope and that “your relationship with God first starts at home” essentially saying that a leader’s first ministry starts with your own family before it can extend to others.
