Hello Wedlock Gisters,
As we celebrate wonderful fathers on Father’s Day we could not help but share this inspiring video of the role the courageous father of Malala Yousafzai’s, the young girl who defied the Taliban in Pakistan to demand that girls be allowed to receive an education and as a result was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012. Malala is the founder of The Malala Fund that helps bring awareness to the need for education for girls around the globe. She is also very vocal in support of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign for the return of the over 200 Nigerian school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram.
Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, an educational activist testifies to the difficult cultural mindset change that he had to undergo in order to raise his intelligent, poised, confident and passionate daughter, Malala. His inspirational testimony demonstrates how a simple seed of courage planted by a father (or mother) in the life of their child can cause them to become world changers.
He says when people ask him what he did to make Malala so bold, courageous and poised, he answers; “Do not ask me what I did but ask what I did not do. I did not clip her wings and that is all”. Wow!
