John Legend is an award-winning RB singer, songwriter with songs like ‘Ordinary People‘ and his latest hit song currently at the top of the charts right now titled ‘All of me’. He writes lyrics that are so smooth and tend to always center around the topic of love, that practical kind of love.
So when he gave his commencement speech at the University of Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago, we expected nothing less. What we didn’t expect was how he would be able to eloquently link the need for love to not only relationships but also to all aspects of life including career, community, philanthropy etc. According to John, “The Key to happiness is opening your mind to love” and he further goes on to say that “the opposite of love is not hate but fear”. He definitely broke down that speech into bite sizes that we could all relate to, especially when he showed vulnerability telling the tale of how ‘love’ took on new meaning struggling as a young man through his parent’s breakup…
